Bemotrizinol joined the permitted US filters in 2026
FDA added bemotrizinol as a permitted sunscreen active ingredient in June 2026, widening the filter set available to sunscreens sold in the United States.
A filter that Asian and European formulations already use is now usable in a US-compliant SPF, which narrows the reformulation gap.
